Ideal for small-game hunting, pest control, and quiet backyard shooting. How the Powerplant WorksA spring-piston powerplant uses a coil spring and piston that you compress when cocking. When you pull the trigger, the piston drives a column of air that pushes the projectile down the barrel. Spring guns are self-contained, need no CO2 or air tank, and are easy to keep shooting.About the CaliberThe .177 caliber (4.5 mm) is the most common airgun caliber. Its light, fast projectiles shoot flat, which makes it a favorite for target shooting, plinking and small pests at modest ranges.Specifications ExplainedGamo rates velocity at 1. Published velocity is measured with the ammunition type the manufacturer lists; heavier pellets will shoot slower but often carry more energy.Muzzle energy is listed as 17.70 ft/lbs - 24 J. Energy, not just velocity, is what matters for pest control and small game, where legal. The barrel is listed as Fluted polymer jacketed rifled steel barrel with WHISPER noise dampening technology. A rifled barrel spins the pellet for accuracy.Trigger: Adjustable Trigger. A predictable trigger is one of the biggest factors in accurate shooting. For aiming, the manufacturer lists GAMO 4x32 scope with rings (shockproof, fogproof). Check the rail type before buying rings or a dot sight. The safety is listed as Manual safety and automatic cocking safety system*. Learn how it works from the owner's manual before loading.Getting Started and CareBefore the first session, read the owner's manual, check that the gun is unloaded, and set up a safe backstop or pellet trap. Shoot from a rest to confirm where the gun hits at your usual distance, then adjust the sights or scope.Try several brands and weights of quality .177 pellets of the type the manufacturer lists. Airguns often prefer one pellet over another, and finding it is the quickest way to tighter groups.Spring guns recoil forward and back, so a light, repeatable hold gives the best groups. Never dry-fire a spring gun, and don't leave it cocked for long periods. What You Will Want With ItEye protection for the shooter and anyone nearbyA pellet or BB trap rated for the gun's power, or a safe backstopPaper targets or reactive targetsA case or sling for transportSafety and Local LawsTreat every airgun as if it were loaded, keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, and keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot.
