A short-barreled single shot pistol in a rifle cartridge is a practical choice for handgun hunting where it is legal, and a fun, accurate gun at the range.About the CVA Scout PlatformThe Scout is CVA's break-action single shot centerfire line. A single shot action is simple, light and very safe to carry, and it encourages the careful, deliberate shooting that makes a first shot count. The break-open design makes it easy to check that the chamber is clear and to clean from the breech end.About the 350 LegendThe 350 Legend has wide factory ammunition support, so you can find hunting and practice loads for it at most sporting goods counters. Zero the rifle with the exact load you plan to hunt with and stay with it through the season, because changing loads can move your point of impact.Care and Setup TipsBefore the season, check that the action screws are snug, mount your scope with quality rings, and zero at the distance you expect to shoot. Confirm your zero again after travel. After each outing, wipe the metal down, run a patch through the bore, and store the firearm dry. A little care keeps the rifle accurate and protects the finish for years.About CVACVA (Connecticut Valley Arms) has built muzzleloaders since 1971 and today is part of BPI Outdoors, which also includes Bergara, PowerBelt and Durasight. Many CVA rifles use barrels made by Bergara, the barrel maker CVA owns in Spain, and the company is known for putting accurate, practical hunting rifles within reach of everyday hunters.Choosing AmmunitionFor hunting, choose a bullet built for the size of game and the distance you expect: controlled-expansion or bonded bullets for large or tough game, and faster-expanding bullets for smaller game. Buy enough of one lot to zero and practice, then stay with it.Practice and Field PrepSpend time at the range before the season shooting from the positions you will use in the field, such as sitting, kneeling and off shooting sticks. Knowing your holdover and your effective range is as important as the rifle itself, and it is what makes ethical shots possible.Transport and StorageCarry and store the firearm unloaded, in a padded case, and away from moisture. If you travel to hunt, check the transport rules for every state you pass through, and keep the owner's manual with the gun so the loading and cleaning steps are always at hand.Ordering and ShippingFirearms purchased online must be transferred through a federally licensed dealer.
