The CYO Long Extension mount raises the headlight so that the bottom of the beam isn't blocked as much by the tire. Modern dynamo headlights from Busch & Mller have rather tall beams which not only illuminate the road well ahead of you, but also close to the bike. So if you're riding on urban roads with lots of debris you can more easily see the road close to you.
