House of Looptail Snake Belly 26 Tire The Myth, The Thread, The Legend The Snake Belly tread goes back to 1979, when Panaracer, then known as the National Tire Company of Japan, made it as a 20" BMX tire. A 26" version followed soon after, and many riders consider it the first tire built specifically for mountain biking. The original went out of production for years, which left riders stuck with poor copies and loose imitations. House of Looptail fixed that by going straight to the source. Working with Panaracer and the tire's original designer, they cut new molds from scratch and redrew the tread by hand, since no blueprints survived. The exact original tread pattern now sits on a modern 60 TPI casing with Panaracer's ZSG Zero Slip Grip rubber, so it looks modern and grips like a current tire. If you're restoring a Ritchey Mountain Bike, a Breezer, a Barbarian or any early klunker or cruiser, this is the tire those bikes were made to wear. Exact Original Tread Design: molds redrawn from scratch using the authentic pattern, so the tread geometry matches what riders ran in the early 1980s rather than a loose interpretation Panaracer ZSG Zero Slip Grip Rubber: all-condition compound tuned specifically for this application, providing side bite in loose dirt and smooth rolling on hardpack60 TPI Folding Aramid Bead Casing: modern construction keeps weight low and makes mounting and packing straightforward compared to a traditional wire bead Non-Tubeless, 60 PSI Max: standard clincher setup runs confidently at lower pressures for better tread engagement, up to 60 psi for firmer conditions | House Of Looptail | Snake Belly 26 Tire 26X2. 125", Black | Rubber
