Named after Mutton, a Salish Woolly Dog whose fur was traditionally spun into yarns for weaving, this insulated jacket honours the cultural significance of Coast Salish textiles—most notably the Salish sweater. “The Salish sweater is one of the most globally recognized pieces of Salish design,” says Walk Gently founder Cole Sparrow-Crawford. “But it’s also been widely appropriated. This jacket is a way for us to collaborate with wider Salish communities and acknowledge the roots of this tradition through Arc’teryx design. The stitch motifs carry those traditions forward by echoing the patterns woven into Salish sweaters, reinterpreted here as a technical midlayer that delivers both warmth and meaning.”
