The Ortovox Focus Voice Avalanche Transceiver moves the search off the screen and into the ear. Voice cues call out distance and direction as the search narrows, so the full-graphic display stays available without becoming the only thing a rescuer is watching. A secondary avalanche switching feature adds another layer of protection: if the device detects no movement for two minutes during an active search, it automatically reverts to transmit mode, keeping a rescuer covered instead of exposed to a second slide. What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I stopped checking the screen halfway through a multi-burial drill and just followed the voice cues to the first signal. That freed me up to watch the debris field instead of my own hands."
