The Hornady Extremely Low Drag - eXpanding (ELD-X) .270 Caliber (.277) 176gr Reloading Bullets represent a massive, heavy-for-caliber hunting innovation custom-engineered to fully exploit modern fast-twist rifle configurations. This ultra-streamlined component projectile features a patented, high-melt Heat Shield polymer tip that entirely resists aerodynamic friction melting to keep your Doppler radar-verified trajectory completely uniform over long flight paths. Built with extremely concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process (AMP) jackets and an optimized boat tail profile, it delivers match-grade benchrest accuracy combined with devastating, all-range terminal hunting performance. Impacts closer in (0 to 400 yards) force the thick jacket shank and integrated InterLock mechanical ring to hold the core secure, yielding massive wound channels and a stable 50-60% weight retention. For extended-range hunting scenarios (400+ yards), the lowering velocity forces the Heat Shield tip backward into the nose cave to initiate controlled expansion, resulting in a perfect mushroom profile and an exceptional 85-90% weight retention for deep, ethical penetration. Enclosed in a 100-count retail box, this elite reloading component requires a minimum 1:8" fast-twist barrel to stabilize its long, ultra-high ballistic coefficient geometry.
