This C. Sharps Model 1863 Cavalry Carbine, serial number 80470, is a classic Civil War-era breech-loading carbine chambered in .52-70. Based on the serial number range, this example was likely manufactured in the mid-1860s, near the end of Civil War production. The carbine shows honest antique wear throughout, with a smooth gray patina on the metal surfaces and handling marks, dings, and finish wear on the wood consistent with age and military service. The stock remains structurally sound, and the firearm retains desirable features including the saddle ring and bar.
