Bsf Barrels Barrel Features The Bsf Barrels Barrel in .308 Win begins as a 416R stainless steel match barrel that is jacketed in a roll wrapped carbon fiber sleeve applied under tension a method chosen because wrapping a barrel directly in carbon fiber traps heat and leads to delamination over repeated use. The carbon fiber material is specially designed to expand at the same rate as the stainless steel barrel inside it so the jacket and the bore move together rather than against each other as temperatures rise. For shooters who choose the ported option slots machined into the carbon fiber let air move around the barrel and vent heat more quickly without risking the delamination that plagues lesser designs. At 18 with a 1:10 twist this barrel is cut to standard .308 Win specifications for reliable function and accuracy. This button rifled barrel carries a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle ready to accept a brake compensator or suppressor giving shooters flexibility in how they manage recoil and muzzle rise. Because the carbon fiber jacket keeps the barrel under tension it stays straighter as it heats during a long string of fire holding accuracy where a bare steel barrel of similar weight would begin to walk its point of impact. The lightweight carbon fiber construction also reduces the overall weight hanging off the front of a bolt action rifle making the completed build easier to carry and quicker to steady on target.
