Area 419 Sidewinder Magnum Self Timing Brake Features The Area 419 Sidewinder Magnum uses rearward facing ports in a proprietary progressive design where the first port is larger and each subsequent port decreases slightly in size to match the declining energy available as gas moves down the brake. This design keeps overall length manageable without sacrificing recoil reducing efficiency. Modeled after the HELLFIRE brake which independently tested at 52 percent recoil reduction on a 6.5 Creedmoor test rifle the Sidewinder Magnum adds an extra port and a larger diameter for even greater recoil abatement. Proprietary port geometry also controls muzzle rise without relying on top porting keeping the sight picture settled between shots. Installation uses a universal adapter torqued onto the barrel with a 13/16 inch wrench that never needs to be removed again while the brake and collar assembly thread on using a left hand thread until the collar locks onto the taper and is hand tightened. This self timing system means the brake will not rotate during final tightening so the ports always align correctly and return to zero remains excellent after removal and reinstallation. Machined from heat treated 17-4PH stainless steel and finished in black nitride the brake measures 1.125 inches in outer diameter with a 3.35 inch length adding roughly 2.75 inches to barrel length.
