The Rab Ascendor 27 Backpack strips down from a gear-hauling approach pack to an agile summit pack in the same trip. Pulling the internal HDPE sheet from the TRI-FLEX back system and removing the hipbelt sheds weight fast once the technical climbing starts. Daisy chain attachments, under-tensioner rope carry, A-frame ski carry, and ice axe attachments cover alpine climbing, scrambling, and overnight bivi routes without swapping packs. What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I hauled a rope, tools, and an overnight kit on the approach, then pulled the back panel and hipbelt at camp and climbed the route with a pack that weighed half as much. One pack did both jobs without slowing me down either time."
