Harrington and Richardson Government Carbine Features The Harrington & Richardson Government Carbine is chambered in 5.56 NATO and built around a Special Forces COTS M16A2 lower paired with an M16A2 upper fitted with M4 feed ramps for reliable feeding. The pencil profile barrel is made from 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel with a chrome-lined bore and it is pinned and welded to bring the true 14.7 barrel to a 16 overall length that keeps the rifle NFA compliant. A 1 in 7 twist rate stabilizes heavier 5.56 bullet weights letting shooters reach farther with the classic A2 sight picture than the original lightweight carbines allowed. The Carpenter 158 steel bolt and full-auto profile bolt carrier are Mil-Spec components keeping the action running reliably shot after shot. Carry handle iron sights preserve the retro aesthetic while offering a rugged adjustable rear sight that requires no batteries or zeroing electronics. A CAR-15 style collapsible stock rides on a carbine-length 6-position Mil-Spec buffer tube letting the shooter adjust length of pull to their preferred stance. The 6-hole carbine handguard and A2-style pistol grip keep the controls familiar to anyone who has handled a Mil-Spec AR platform and the 32 overall length keeps the rifle compact and easy to maneuver. Feeding from a 30-round magazine and weighing 6 lbs the Government Carbine gives shooters a lightweight retro-styled 5.56 rifle suited to plinking training or general field use.
