The Wards Western Field Model 600A is a classic American-made semi-automatic shotgun manufactured for Montgomery Ward by Remington Arms. Built on the proven gas-operated design lineage of the Remington Model 58 and 878, the 600A was engineered to provide dependable cycling, soft recoil characteristics, and reliable field performance. Featuring a blued steel receiver, traditional hardwood furniture, and robust internal components, this shotgun reflects the practical design philosophy that made mid-century American sporting firearms so popular among hunters and outdoorsmen. Chambered in 12 Gauge, the Model 600A delivers smooth semi-automatic operation and handling well suited for upland hunting, waterfowl, small game, and recreational shooting. Its gas-operated action helps reduce felt recoil compared to fixed-breech designs, while the classic walnut stock provides a comfortable and natural shooting position. The combination of Remington engineering and Montgomery Ward branding makes this shotgun both a capable field gun and an interesting piece of American firearms history.
