Chiappa Sharps Down Under Features The Chiappa Sharps Down Under is built on a falling block single shot action chambered in .45-70 a design that locks up tight for consistent ignition and reliable extraction shot after shot. All metal components are CNC machined from a solid block of carbon steel which means the action holds tight tolerances and resists wear far better than cast or stamped alternatives over a long service life. The half cock hammer safety gives the shooter a secure positive resting position between shots reducing the chance of an accidental discharge while loading or carrying afield. With an overall length of 51 inches and a weight of 12.3 pounds the rifle carries enough heft up front to steady the sight picture and tame recoil from the big-bore cartridge. The oil hand polished checkered walnut stock is finished to a traditional standard that rewards careful upkeep and its checkering provides a secure non-slip grip even after repeated handling in the field. A patchbox built into the stock offers a period-correct place to store a cleaning patch a spare nipple or small tools without adding bulk. The double adjustable set trigger allows the shooter to dial in a light crisp release independent of the working trigger pull a feature especially valued by precision and target shooters. Finished in Gloss Blue with color case hardening on select components the rifle presents a classic look that pairs traditional gunsmithing with the strength of modern CNC-machined steel.
