The Ochain N Direct Mount Spider ships with its travel set internally at 9 degrees of float, rather than the external dial some Ochain spiders use, so the feel stays fixed once it's mounted. That fixed float still lets the chainring rotate backward under braking and cornering load, decoupling the rider from pedal feedback and quieting the bike through rough sections. Riders who want more or less give can move to a 6 or 12 degree float, sold separately, rather than adjusting the same unit trailside.
