The limited edition No.08 Sampo features a handle crafted with Curly Birch wood sustainably sourced from Finland. A subspecies of the silver birch that grows in the Nordic countries, curly birch is particular to the Karelia region of Finland. With extreme growing conditions that modify the wood, the tree twists as it grows. Layers of soft and hard wood grow unevenly, creating the distinctive swirling, marble-like patterns of the wood grain. Curly birch wood ranges from pale yellow to light brown, with a very unique appearance of swirling patterns. Due to the unique nature of Curly Birch wood, veining may appear differently on knives.
