What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I wore this around camp on a night that dropped well below freezing and my head never felt it. It's so light I forgot it was in my pack until I needed it most."Some nights the cold settles in fast, right around the time the fire dies down and the stars come out. The Transcendent Down Beanie from Backcountry is what you want on hand for exactly that moment. Pull it on at camp after a long day of skiing or hiking, and the 650-fill down traps warmth around your head almost instantly, making the difference between shivering through dinner and actually enjoying it. Built with an ultralight ripstop polyester shell, it shrugs off abrasion from packs and gear without adding weight worth noticing. It's the kind of piece that disappears in your bag until the temperature drops, then quietly becomes the best thing you packed.
