The 280 Ackley Improved is the thinking hunter's 7mm a decades old wildcat that shoots close behind the 7mm Remington Magnum while burning less powder and being gentler on barrels, legitimized as a factory cartridge and beloved by handloaders ever since. Horizon Firearms gives it a proper home in the Venatic 2: a 22" spiral fluted barrel, threaded up front and finished in Sage Green, on a black receiver with a Picatinny rail.An iota EKO X carbon fiber stock in Arctic Moss keeps the rifle light for wilderness hunts, and the Arca rail cut into the forend means nothing bolts on between the rifle and a tripod. The 280 AI's appeal has always been efficiency near magnum performance with standard action feeding and manners mild enough to practice with all summer. It pairs naturally with a rifle built to be carried. This is the Venatic 2 for the hunter who reads reloading manuals for fun, keeps a dope card in the scope cap, and knows exactly why this chambering earned its cult.
