7mm Backcountry is the newest chambering in the Venatic 2 lineup and the most ambitious. Federal developed the cartridge around a stronger case that runs at higher pressure than traditional brass allows, and the practical result is speed that used to demand a long magnum barrel now coming out of handier rifles. Horizon Firearms pairs it with a 22" spiral fluted barrel, carrying muzzle threads and Sage Green over a black receiver wearing a Picatinny rail. The platform follows the Venatic 2 formula that has worked for every other chambering: an iota EKO X carbon fiber stock in Arctic Moss, an Arca rail forend that locks straight into tripod heads, and an overall weight that respects how far elk country makes a hunter walk between opportunities. For anyone who has wanted a 7mm that carries magnum energy in a true mountain rifle package and wants it from a Texas shop with custom roots rather than a production line this chambering is the one to watch, and Horizon is among the first premium builders to offer it.
