What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I put the Cosmic SLR 32 23i Wheelset on my endurance road bike for a mountain stage event, and they were the right call from the first pitch. The 1390 gram pair weight kept acceleration out of the saddle sharp and responsive, and the ceramic bearings rolled so freely on the long descents that I barely had to pedal to hold speed. The tubeless setup was airtight right out of the box, and the Fore Carbon rim technology meant no rim tape to deal with at all."Mountain roads reward light, stiff, and efficient wheels above almost anything else you can change on a bike. The Mavic Cosmic SLR 32 23i Wheelset was designed with exactly those roads in mind, pairing a 1390 gram pair weight with a 32mm carbon profile and ceramic bearings to deliver the kind of climbing performance and descending confidence that serious mountain stages demand. The Adaptive Layup carbon construction reinforces the rim only where stress is actually applied, trimming weight without compromising structural integrity, while Fore Carbon technology pushes the lower rim bridge inward and threads it to accept spoke nipples directly, leaving the upper rim surface completely intact. The result is a tubeless-ready system that holds air reliably without rim tape, installs more easily than a conventionally drilled rim, and maintains airtightness through the long descents and rough road surfaces that would stress a lesser setup. The 24 aero spokes laced in pairs feed into Mavic's Infinity hub, which distributes spoke tension evenly for quiet, efficient power transfer with no noise under load. Instant Drive 360 freehub engagement delivers immediate response when you accelerate out of corners or off the back of a climb, and Mavic Ceramic bearings with low-density grease and highly lubricated seals reduce rolling resistance across the full length of a long mountain day. Freehub compatibility covers Shimano HG road out of the box, with SRAM XD and Campagnolo N3W conversion ki...
