The name "Highwayman" fits a pistol built for shooters who want a serious 5.56 platform in a package short enough to move fast with. The Geissele Defense Pistol GDP "Highwayman" 5.56mm 10.3" 08-731S pairs a cold hammer forged 10.3" barrel with a 1:7 twist, giving it the reliability and consistency Geissele barrels are known for, scaled down into a genuinely compact AR-pattern pistol. What sets this build apart visually is the Distressed Diamond Cut finish — a Geissele DDC treatment that gives the pistol a distinct look while still holding up to real use rather than just looking good in a display case. Underneath that finish, the fundamentals are all there: fully ambidextrous controls mean left- and right-handed shooters get the same intuitive handling without compensating for one-sided ergonomics, and the grip geometry is built to feel natural rather than generic. As a 5.56 NATO pistol, the Highwayman accepts standard AR-15 magazines — typically 30-round capacity, sold separately — and comes optics-ready with integrated Picatinny rails running across both the upper receiver and handguard. That gives plenty of flexibility for mounting a red dot or other optic without needing an aftermarket rail system first. It ships without factory night sights, which fits the pistol's overall approach: a solid, well-built foundation that's meant to be customized around whatever accessories and optics the owner actually wants to run, rather than a fixed configuration. For anyone who wants a Geissele GDP in a compact, 10.3" format without sacrificing the build quality Geissele is known for, the Highwayman delivers a balanced, tactical pistol platform ready for modular setup.
