What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying: “This is one of my favorite lightweight layers when I want warmth without committing to down. It stays warm even when conditions get damp, packs down small, and clips easily to my pack when the sun comes out. I use it for hikes, crag days, and travel because it’s always useful.” We zip into the SuperStrand LT Hooded Jacket when we want warmth without slowing down. Designed by Outdoor Research for movement and versatility, this jacket feels right at home on cool trail mornings, breezy approaches, and shaded crags where lightweight insulation makes all the difference. It’s the kind of layer we bring along because it disappears in the pack—until we need it. The synthetic insulation delivers a soft, lofty feel while continuing to insulate even when conditions turn damp. A lightweight ripstop shell fends off wind and light moisture, and the fixed hood adds an extra barrier when clouds roll in. When temperatures rise, the jacket stuffs into its own pocket and clips easily to a pack, ready to come back out when the day cools again.
