What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying: "I count on the Downpour Mountain Jacket for fast-moving days when weight matters but real protection is non-negotiable. The Pertex Shield fabric feels tough for a 2. 5-layer shell, and the harness-friendly pockets and underarm vents make it super practical for scrambles and mixed-weather hikes. It packs down small, but still handles big weather." We reach for the Downpour Mountain Jacket when the terrain gets steeper, the wind kicks up, and we need waterproof protection that won't slow us down. Rab's use of Pertex Shield 2. 5-layer fabric creates a lightweight, packable shell that feels surprisingly robust whether we're hiking exposed ridgelines or navigating slick alpine scrambles. With a mountain-ready hood and articulated sleeves, it keeps us moving freely through unpredictable conditions. Every feature is tuned for real mountain travel: harness-compatible pockets that remain usable under a pack, underarm vents that dump heat on steep climbs, and a water-resistant front zip that locks out sideways rain. Extended cuffs pair easily with gloves, while the adjustable hem helps seal in warmth on gusty summits. From shoulder-season storms to fast-paced alpine missions, it's a reliable shell built for all-mountain adventure.
