They also make a beautiful addition to a shrub border or perennial garden. Two weeks before the last frost of the spring, plant in a sunny location in well-drained or sandy loam soil. Space plants 5" apart. For continuous summer color, plant at biweekly intervals. Stake for best appearance and straightest stems. In zones 7 or lower, lift corms from the ground after the first frost and store them in a cool, dry place during the winter months.
