WMD Guns Takedown Pin .308 Nitride Black Takedown Pin .308. 308 takedown pin that comes with the AK and AR platforms is a BCM part; The problem with the BCM part is the BCM is a BCM with some pin left over from when the AK was made. The WMD solution to this dilemma was to make a BCM takedown pin that was longer and had some weight to it. This was to keep the weight at a manageable level and also to have something a little stronger than the standard BCM pin which is Nitride. Nitride in this finish provides a superior anti-wear property over conventional BCM/BT type steel pins. In addition to the BCM takedown pin being a BCM part it is also common for BCM/CMF type pins to have some residual spring/bushing spring left over from when they were originally made. Simply put a BCM/CMF takedown pin is a BCM/CMF type pin that has been drilled out and reamed (roughed) with some degree of swaging left/right margin. Remember these are used in the BCM/BTS type takedown pin kit. Once removed Nitride pins can be refinished (basically like a mirror finish) with a darker color and smoother surface.
