Sierra Bullets Sports Master .44 Caliber 180 Grain JHC Rifle Bullets. The accuracy and retained weight of the Sierra Sports Master .44 caliber 180 grain JHC bullets make them an excellent choice for revolvers or for short-barreled handguns. Due to the popularity of the handgun bullets made by Sierra a large variety of calibers and grain weights were developed. The jackets of the Sports Master .44 caliber 180 grain JHC bullets are formed to the special grooves of the cases. This allows the bullet to expand uniformly along the serrations of the case. The necks of the bullets are made of a tough copper alloy rather than lead providing the same level of accuracy that is enjoyed by .44 caliber handgun bullets. Using the full length of the case a smaller hollow point type of cavity is created. This allows the same amount of energy to be retained by the hollow point portion of the bullet. As a result the cavity of the Sierra Sports Master .44 caliber 180 grain JHC remains under the ogive producing an even larger expansion. Sierra provides the necessary base crimp to prevent deformation of the jacketed hollow point (JHP) bullets.
