The RRS-Lock system incorporates distinctive safety-stop features integrated into both the mounting rail and the quick-release clamp, ensuring compliance with the RRS 1.5 inches standard The "hard-stop" feature consists of a 5mm diameter steel pin that engages with 5.5mm diameter holes in the rail The interface not only supplements the traditional friction-based clamping mechanism but also prevents unintentional repositioning of the rail within the clamp when the RRS-Lock is engaged Visual verification of lever position - the lever's status - locked, partially open or fully open - can be easily determined through observation The system's advantage lies in its provision of multiple "hard-stop" positions along the rail, while maintaining smooth edges and corners This design ensures maximum ergonomics and a snag-free interface, which is inherently resistant to wear The clamp can transition from a closed to a fully open position in a single swift motion, facilitating the top-loading of RRS dovetail and Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release plates This design eliminates the risk of missing shots due to difficulties in inserting the plates into the end of the clamp
