Apex Ammunition Dove Stratified L3 Features The Apex Ammunition Dove Stratified L3 load pairs No. 7 and No. 8 high-antimony lead shot in a single layered payload designed specifically for dove hunting. The harder rounder L3 lead pellets hold their shape better through the barrel and choke which improves pattern efficiency compared to softer less uniform shot. Combining two shot sizes in one shell increases the pellet count that actually reaches the target while also helping retain energy as distances stretch out. This stratified approach gives the load versatility across the full range of shots a dove hunter sees in a single outing. Loaded into a 12 gauge 2.75 inch shell with a 1 1/8 ounce payload this configuration is tuned to match a traditional dove gauge and shell length that most wingshooters already carry. The load is purpose-built to handle close passing birds mid-range crossing shots and longer-range fliers without needing to switch shells between scenarios. Apex designs its dove loads to give hunters a single reliable option across the variety of presentations a dove field offers in one day.
