"The Winchester Model 70 chambered in .300 Winchester Short Magnum (.300 WSM) with a 24-inch barrel is a premier short-magnum setup. Often called ""The Rifleman's Rifle,"" the Model 70 utilizes a short action for this chambering. The 24-inch barrel provides the ideal length to fully burn the efficient, short-fat powder column of the .300 WSM, delivering ballistics that rival the traditional .300 Win Mag but with less powder and slightly milder recoil."
