With the 18.5" octagon barrel, this Marlin is the Model 1895 CBA (Cowboy Action / Carbine). It is a highly coveted configuration because it blends the classic look of a straight-wrist, octagon-barreled cowboy gun with the quick-handling maneuverability of a short guide gun. This carbine version holds 6 rounds in the under-barrel magazine tube. The barrels in this rifle uses traditional Ballard-style cut rifling rather than Marlin's older Micro-Groove rifling. This is a massive plus if you want to shoot cast lead bullets, as Ballard rifling grips lead much better and stabilizes heavy, hard-cast cowboy loads beautifully without fouling. Rifle features a straight-grip walnut stock and a traditional hard plastic Marlin buttplate.

Key Features
* The Finish Contrast: The barrel has a highly polished, deep gloss-blue finish. The steel receiver, lever, and forearm cap feature a bead-blasted, non-glare satin/matte blued finish to minimize reflection in the field.
* The Wood: Solid American Black Walnut stock and forearm. True to the "Cowboy" moniker, the wood features a smooth, uncheckered finish and a slim, straight-grip wrist (no pistol grip).
* Forearm Profile: Features a historically accurate slim, tapered forearm rather than the thicker "pregnant guppy" style found on standard Marlin Guide Guns.
* Buttplate: Shipped from the factory with a hard, black polymer/rubber carbine buttplate instead of a thick recoil pad.
* Safety Features: Equipped with a standard manual cross-bolt hammer-block safety (on the receiver) and a traditional half-cock hammer position.
* Optics Ready: The top of the matte receiver is factory drilled and tapped to accept standard Marlin 336/1895 scope bases, rail mounts, or receiver-mounted peep sights.
