Product Description
The Hawes Firearms Chief Marshal is a single-action revolver manufactured in West Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn and imported to the U.S. by Martha Hawes's Hawes Firearms Company starting around 1969.
* The Chief Marshal Variant: Introduced around 1969, the Chief Marshal differed from standard fixed-sight Marshal models by featuring a larger frame design and adjustable sights.
* Chambering in .357 Magnum: Like other models in the Marshal line (such as the Western Marshal, Federal Marshal, and Montana Marshal), the Chief Marshal was offered in centerfire calibers including .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, and .45 Colt. Serial number coding for the Chief Marshal/Target models typically used a leading "6" to designate .357 Magnum chambering. Production numbers for the Chief Marshal were significantly lower than the standard fixed-sight variants.
End of Production: Hawes Firearms ceased operations around 1980 amid multiple lawsuits concerning accidental discharges in the Marshal revolver series. Following this, J.P. Sauer & Sohn sold their revolver tooling to Herman Weihrauch Waffenfabrik, whose designs later evolved into modern imports like the EAA Bounty Hunter.
