RCBS X-Die Full Length Die Set Features The RCBS X-Die Full Length Die Set is engineered around a specialized mandrel that fundamentally changes how case length growth is managed during the reloading process. During sizing the mandrel makes direct contact with the case mouth and this contact is what cuts down the rate at which the case grows in length with each firing and resizing cycle. For reloaders working with .243 Winchester brass this means significantly less frequent trimming is required after the initial trim to maximum case length is performed a meaningful time savings for anyone loading in volume. This mandrel design addresses one of the more tedious aspects of precision rifle reloading where case trimming can become a bottleneck in an otherwise efficient reloading workflow. Despite the extremely close tolerance maintained between the neck wall and the mandrel the X-Die design avoids thickening the neck wall as the case is sized because the case is pushed back rather than having its neck squeezed down aggressively. This distinction matters because a thickening neck wall over repeated firings is a common cause of chambering issues and inconsistent neck tension in conventionally sized brass. RCBS has built this full length die set to work effectively whether the reloader is working with a bolt action target rifle or another .243 Winchester platform giving consistent results across different rifle types. For .243 Winchester handloaders who want to extend case life and reduce the maintenance burden of frequent trimming the RCBS X-Die Full Length Die Set offers a genuinely different approach to resizing.
