The die s mandrel has an expander ball and decapping pin already attached combining several reloading steps into one pass through the press. After an initial trim of .020 inch off the maximum case length the X-Die s patented design standardizes that length so future resizing does not push the case back out to trimming length. This happens because the close tolerance between the mandrel and die neck wall prevents the case neck from thickening as the case length is pushed back during sizing. Cases resized repeatedly in the X-Die will initially grow a few thousandths of an inch and then stabilize below the maximum case length all without any discernible loss of accuracy or case life. This stability means a 6.5 Creedmoor reloader can load and reload the same brass for many cycles without pulling out a trimmer every few firings saving real time at the bench.
