Product Description
"This National Postal Meter M1 Carbine stands as a perfectly documented, authenticated piece of U.S. military history: Mid-1943: Assembled by National Postal Meter (Rochester, NY) using a Winchester barrel blank finished by the ""Rv"" subcontractor. Post-WWII / Pre-Korea Overhaul: Sent to Raritan Arsenal (New Jersey) under Col. Avery (RJA). Technicians updated the weapon for the next generation of soldiers by installing a Winchester low-wood stock, an International Register adjustable sight, and a rotating safety, stamping the stock with the boxed RJA/EB cartouche to finalize the build. The rifle is a spectacular mechanical tapestry of the American WWII homefront effort: The Core: It was assembled in Mid-1943 by National Postal Meter in Rochester, NY. The Barrel: NPM used a tough Winchester barrel blank that was finished and proofed by the ""Rv"" sub-contractor. The Stock: During the war, it either wore out or cracked, or the gun was turned back in to an ordnance depot after Germany/Japan surrendered. The Post-War Upgrade: The rifle was sent to the Raritan Arsenal in New Jersey. The technicians stripped it down, threw away the damaged original stock, updated the barrel band/sights to post-war specs, and pulled a beautiful Winchester Type 3 ""low wood"" stock out of a spare parts bin, stamping the side with the boxed RJA / EB cartouche to sign off on its rebuild.
