Hornady BLACK 338 ARC 215gr FTX 20-Round Hunting AmmoHornady BLACK 338 ARC is a 215-grain FTX load packed 20 rounds to the box, and it is available at Battlehawk Armory for medium game. From a 16-inch test barrel, Hornady publishes 1,900 feet per second and 1,723 foot-pounds. The FTX polymer tip starts expansion, and a .376 G1 ballistic coefficient keeps the heavy bullet useful inside practical hunting range. The BLACK line is loaded to fit and feed across AR-style and bolt-action 338 ARC platforms, suppressed or not. A sectional density of .269 and the 215-grain weight favor penetration on game in the 50- to 300-pound class. Brass cases and large rifle magnum primers support consistent ignition in that short-action cartridge.Hornady builds the load in the USA with cases, primers, and propellant matched to the FTX bullet. The 20-round box is sized for a hunt or a zero check without buying a full case.
