Product Description
The Scott Roxter 200 is a 20-inch-wheel kids' mountain bike built for riders moving past a balance bike and onto real trails. The alloy frame uses custom kid-specific tubing and geometry so the reach and handling match a smaller rider instead of just shrinking an adult bike down. A suspension fork soaks up roots and rocks on the way to the park or the trailhead, and a 7-speed drivetrain gives a kid enough range to pedal up a hill and then spin out on the flats. It covers everything from neighborhood laps to actual singletrack, at an age where kids are ready to start exploring farther from home. What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"My kid rode this one on our local singletrack and actually stopped for the rock gardens instead of around them, because the suspension fork took the edge off the hits and the Tektro hydraulic disc brakes gave them enough control to slow down for the technical stuff without locking up. Those brakes are the real difference from a cheaper kids' bike: one or two fingers on the lever is enough to scrub speed before a root or a drop, which means less white-knuckle braking and more actual riding. We've taken it over small jumps at the trailhead too, and the kid-specific brake levers mean small hands can reach and modulate the lever without stretching."
