Underwood Ammo Gas Check Features Underwood Ammo Gas Check loads a 360 grain hard cast long wide nose bullet into the .454 Casull case launching it at 1425 feet per second for 1623 ft lbs of muzzle energy a serious amount of power for a handgun cartridge. The hard cast flat profile bullet is designed to drive straight through tough game rather than expand making it well suited to hunters pursuing medium and large game where deep reliable penetration matters more than wide wound channels. A sectional density of roughly 0.25 reflects a long heavy-for-caliber bullet built to retain momentum and punch through bone and muscle. Nickel-plated brass casings round out the load improving feeding reliability while resisting corrosion during storage between hunts. What sets this load apart is Underwood s Black Cherry coating a polymer-based compound applied over the hard cast bullet that offers thermal stability beyond what the company s earlier Hi-Tek coating provided. That coating protects against gas cutting around the bullet as it travels down the bore while delivering a high degree of wear and abrasion resistance under the pressures generated by the .454 Casull cartridge. Because the coating keeps the lead bullet from directly contacting the bore fouling is virtually eliminated which means less cleanup after a day at the range or in the field. Underwood Ammo Gas Check .454 Casull ships 20 rounds to a box and is available for sale at GrabAGun for revolver hunters who need a hard-hitting low-fouling load for dangerous or large game.
