Grizzly Rifle Ammunition Features The Grizzly Ammo load in .45-70 Gov pairs a 405 grain round nose flat point bullet with a muzzle velocity of 1000 fps generating 899 ft-lbs of energy which means this cartridge carries the mass and momentum needed to punch through the dense bone and muscle of big game like elk bear and bison. The flat point profile holds its nose-forward orientation as it penetrates unlike a traditional round nose that can tumble or deflect on impact with heavy bone structure. This bullet weight and velocity combination reflects the classic big-bore performance the .45-70 Gov cartridge has been known for since its original military service. Brass casing construction ensures reliable extraction and consistent chamber pressures across repeated firings. Each box contains 20 rounds giving hunters enough ammunition for a hunting trip along with practice sessions to confirm zero on a lever action or single shot rifle. This load is particularly well suited to hunters pursuing dangerous game where penetration through thick hide and heavy bone is the deciding factor in a clean kill. The classic big-bore ballistics of the .45-70 Gov remain relevant today precisely because of loads like this one that deliver genuine stopping power.
