Iver Johnson Eagle XL Features The Iver Johnson Eagle XL is built on a solid 1045 steel frame paired with a 4140 steel slide giving the pistol the strength needed to handle the pressures of the 10mm cartridge over years of use. Front and rear angled slide serrations improve grip during manipulation while an extended slide stop and extended thumb safety keep essential controls within easy reach. A three-hole trigger and skeletonized hammer reduce reciprocating mass for a crisper faster trigger break and hammer fall. The beavertail grip safety with a memory cut protects the shooter s hand from slide bite while ensuring consistent reliable disengagement on every draw. Every visible metal surface on the Eagle XL is hand polished before receiving a 24K gold plated finish giving the pistol a distinctive high-end appearance rarely seen on a working 1911. Black Dymondwood grips with alligator skin checkering provide a secure textured hold that contrasts sharply against the gold finish. A lowered and flared ejection port improves reliability during rapid fire and a slightly beveled magwell speeds up magazine changes under time pressure. Weighing 44 oz unloaded with an overall length of 9.75 the Eagle XL delivers premium 1911 features in a caliber built for serious stopping power.
