What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I've been reaching for the Solution 1. 0 Hoodie on ski touring days when I need insulation that won't fight me on the uptrack. The stretch fleece side panels are a real difference maker, letting me swing my arms and breathe without that boxed-in feeling you get from a lot of puffies."There's a window at the start of every mountain day when the temperature is cold enough to need insulation, but the effort ahead means you can't afford to overheat, and the Solution 1. 0 Hoodie from Black Diamond was built to live right in that window. It's a technical insulated layer that thinks like a climber, stretching where you need it and packing away the moment you don't. PrimaLoft Gold synthetic insulation fills the body and sleeves with reliable warmth that keeps performing even when moisture finds its way in, while the stretch woven fleece side panels open up the jacket's range of motion in the places that matter most on steep terrain. A 20D nylon ripstop shell with a DWR finish handles light weather without adding weight, the helmet-compatible hood is there when the wind picks up, and when the sun finally breaks through, the layers start coming off, the whole jacket stuffs into its own chest pocket, and clips to your pack. At under ten ounces, you'll forget it's along for the ride until you absolutely need it.
