C.J. Hamilton & Son was a manufacturer of sheet metal products, in particular iron-bladed windmills for agricultural use. They applied their knowledge of sheet metal fabrication to design and build one of the most successful youth rifles of the early 20th Century. Their Model 27 was introduced in 1907 and production ceased in 1930. It was extremely affordable, selling for only $2.55 in the 1927 Sears, Roebuck & Co catalog. That's equivalent to about $49.00 in 2026. Well over 500,000 of them were made. This example is in pretty good shape, considering that so many of these were completely worn out by the kids who owned them back then. It's only a wall-hanger or conversation piece today, because modern .22 rimfire cartridges develop significantly higher pressures than these little guns were ever made to handle.
