The Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt with a 7.5-inch barrel is the original "Cavalry" configuration as issued to the United States Army following the cartridge revolver trials of 1873, representing the most historically authentic and commanding expression of the most legendary revolver ever produced in America. The long 7.5-inch barrel extracts maximum velocity from the .45 Colt cartridge and provides an exceptionally generous sight radius that makes precise long-range shooting more achievable, qualities that made this configuration the trusted sidearm of cavalry troopers who rode across the vast open landscapes of the American frontier. The magnificent color case hardened frame with its swirling, organic patterns of blues, purples, and golds contrasts magnificently against the deep, mirror-like blued finish of the barrel and cylinder, creating a revolver of extraordinary visual beauty that stands as one of the most stunning examples of traditional American gunmaking craftsmanship. Each color case hardened frame emerges from the hardening process as a completely unique work of art, ensuring that every Single Action Army produced is a genuinely individual firearm unlike any other in existence. For the serious collector, the dedicated cowboy action competitor, or the history enthusiast who wants to hold a living piece of American frontier legend in their hands, the 7.5-inch Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt is simply without equal in the pantheon of American firearms.
