There's a reason people call the 10.3-inch barrel length the sweet spot for compact 5.56 NATO builds — short enough to move fast in tight spaces, long enough that you're not fighting velocity loss to get there. The Geissele Defense Pistol GDP "Highwayman" 5.56mm 10.3" 08-731B is built around exactly that length, with a 1:7 twist and a refined direct impingement gas system tuned specifically for reliable cycling at this reduced barrel length, which is where a lot of budget builds start to struggle. This is a Geissele GDP through and through, meaning the components aren't afterthoughts bolted onto a generic lower. The SSA-X two-stage trigger gives you a clean, predictable break that most factory triggers can't match, and fully ambidextrous controls mean the pistol runs the same regardless of which hand you shoot from. That combination matters a lot in dynamic or defensive shooting scenarios, where fumbling with controls costs time you don't have. The MK16 M-LOK free-float rail gives plenty of room for lights, grips, or other accessories without any of it contacting the barrel, and the Picatinny optics-ready platform means you can drop a red dot on without extra hardware. An adjustable GDP stabilizing brace lets you dial in fit rather than working around a fixed length, and the ergonomic grip keeps the whole package comfortable to run for extended range sessions or actual duty use. As a Geissele Pistol, it accepts standard AR-15 magazines — typically 30-round capacity, sold separately — and comes finished in a clean black that suits tactical, defensive, or competition-style shooting without drawing unnecessary attention. For anyone specifically hunting down a Geissele 10.3 build with real pedigree behind every component, the Highwayman delivers exactly that.
