Geissele didn't scale back their standards to build a compact platform. The Geissele Defense Pistol GDP MOD1 5.56mm 8" 08-687S brings the same build quality that defines Geissele's rifle lineup into a genuinely compact, tactical pistol format, finished in Desert Dirt Color for a low-visibility look that matches the rest of their DDC-finished parts. At the core is an 8-inch cold hammer forged barrel with a 1:7 twist, running a direct impingement gas system tuned for smooth, reliable cycling despite the shorter length — a detail that separates a genuinely well-built short pistol from one that just looks compact on paper. Fully ambidextrous controls mean left- and right-handed shooters get equal, natural manipulation without compensating for a system built around one side. The ergonomic Geissele MOD1 grip and factory trigger round out the handling, giving this 5.56 NATO pistol a responsive, controlled feel that's easy to notice once you're actually running it. Standard AR-15 magazine compatibility, typically up to 30 rounds, keeps capacity flexible (magazines sold separately). Optics-ready Picatinny rails span both the upper and the handguard, giving plenty of room for whatever sighting system or accessories the build calls for, and a pistol stabilizing brace comes installed for practical, stable handling straight out of the box. For anyone after a genuinely capable Geissele GDP in a compact footprint, rather than a stripped-down build that cuts corners to get there, this Geissele Pistol delivers the same attention to detail Geissele is known for at full rifle scale.
