"Women's HOKA® Mafate 5: The Women's HOKA Mafate 5 is a max-cushion trail running shoe built for neutral runners who take on serious terrain and want serious protection underfoot. If your runs involve long climbs, technical descents, loose dirt, and slick rocks, this is the shoe that keeps you moving confidently from start to finish. The dual-density midsole pairs long-lasting support with a super critical foam top layer that feels energetic and springy, while Rocker Integrity Technology™ delivers a rolling, propulsive ride that keeps your stride smooth even when your legs are working hard. At 10.1 ounces with an 8mm heel-to-toe drop, it carries its cushioning well without feeling sluggish on the trail. The upper is built to hold up where trails get rough. A warp knit construction treated with anti-fray technology resists breakdown on rugged terrain, and a supportive TPU cage locks in your midfoot for confident footing on techy ground. A flexible vamp moves naturally with your foot as you climb and descend, and a premium sockliner adds comfort from the first step. Gaiter attachment points let you seal out dust and debris when conditions call for it. Underfoot, the Vibram® Megagrip outsole with 5mm lugs grips roots, rocks, wet slabs, and loose mud with the kind of traction that earns trust on long days out.Why Our Fit Experts Love This Shoe""I put these on a long trail run with a mix of muddy switchbacks and rocky sections, and the grip never let me down. What I really noticed was how the rocker keeps things rolling even when you're tired - it takes some of the work out of the last few miles. The midfoot cage also felt really secure on the descents without being stiff."" - Sawyer, Road Runner Sports Fit Expert, Wilmette ILWho It's Best ForIf you're a neutral runner who logs big miles on technical trails and wants a high-cushion ride with dependable traction and protective construction, the Mafate 5 is worth a close look.
