HSM/Hunting Shack Varmint Features The HSM/Hunting Shack Varmint load in .22 Hornet uses a Hornady V-MAX polymer tipped bullet at 35 grains a design that initiates rapid expansion on impact for the explosive fragmentation varmint hunters want when dealing with prairie dogs ground squirrels and other small pests. Muzzle velocity of 2975 fps generates 688 ft-lbs of energy giving this comparatively mild cartridge surprising flat-shooting performance at typical varmint hunting ranges. The polymer tip also improves the bullet s ballistic coefficient in flight helping it resist wind drift better than a traditional soft point of similar weight. HSM builds this load with reloadable brass and boxer primers giving handloaders the option to rebuild cases after a day in the field. Each box contains 50 rounds reflecting HSM s focus on offering shooters enough ammunition for extended varmint hunting sessions without constant reloading of the magazine. HSM s varmint lineup spans 25 separate calibers and 66 total loads and this .22 Hornet offering continues that same commitment to purpose-built performance for small game hunters. The combination of the Hornady V-MAX bullet and HSM s own loading expertise gives shooters explosive terminal performance in a classic mild-recoiling cartridge. The HSM Varmint .22 Hornet load is available for sale at GrabAGun for varmint hunters who want proven performance from a time-tested cartridge.
