Howa 1500 Carbon Stalker Features The Howa 1500 Carbon Stalker pairs a proven bolt action with a 24 blued steel barrel chambered in 7mm PRC a cartridge built to carry energy and a flat trajectory well past 500 yards. The 1:8 twist rate is fast enough to stabilize the long heavy for caliber bullets that make 7mm PRC effective at extended range so the barrel and cartridge are matched rather than just paired. A threaded muzzle on a 1/2x28 pattern lets the owner add a suppressor or muzzle brake without sending the barrel out for gunsmithing. The two stage trigger gives a defined take up before the break which helps a hunter hold steady when the shot finally has to happen and the three position safety adds a mid position for safely working the bolt with the safety still engaged. Weight is the whole point of the Carbon Stalker treatment and Howa gets there by wrapping the barrel and stock system in carbon fiber rather than relying on a heavier traditional profile. The fixed Stocky s stock is finished in black carbon fiber with gray webbing a distinctive look that also means less material and less weight riding on the shooter s shoulder on a long stalk. At 6.12 lbs and an overall length of 42.5 inches the rifle carries easily all day whether it is slung over a shoulder on the approach or braced for a final shot. The receiver arrives drilled and tapped and finished in the same durable blued steel as the barrel so a scope can be mounted directly with no additional gunsmithing and the 3+1 capacity keeps a followup round ready for the field.
