The body of the Samco Disposable Pipet is made of shatterproof nontoxic polyethylene and their low-affinity surface reduces loss of cells and valuable proteins due to binding. The transfer pipets may be frozen in liquid nitrogen or heat-sealed for storage. Biological samples may be transferred with the pipets without plugging packaging and autoclaving. The nontoxic polyethylene material will not impart a toxic or hazardous property to a biological sample. Transilumination may be accomplished by an electric current through the pipet bulb. The standard transfer pipets are as supplied in bulk packaged in polyethylene liners and may be trimmed to the desired length with scissors leaving the plug intact and plugged into a wall of a blood bank bag or double-dipped in a conventional transfer pipet device by placing the tip in a bag of pre-sterilized blood bank bags.
