The TURRAX T-10 requires only a moderate amount of liquid for in situ cell disruption and homogenization. The unit is simple to use and requires only a power source air or gas to provide efficient mixing without splashing or acrid odors. It does not however require a pump as a venturi or a disassembled gasket will keep the valve open at all times. Its simple rotary action provides effective forces for breaking up large tissue sections. A powerful light micro-jet can also be generated from the tissue sample center by simply moving the tissue center toward or away from the blades. A turrax-type culture medium may then be introduced into the tissue culture vessel. Unlike most micro-disk homogenizers the ULTRATURRAX T-10 homogenizes tissue samples without inducing tissue damage. A molded-in lifting eye port makes sample introduction easier. A molded-in lifting eye guard protects the eye from the intense light rays while still permitting visualization of the specimen.
