Product Description
This Model 1877 U. S. Trapdoor is in Very Good overall condition. The bore on the rifle is in Very Good Plus condition with strong rifling throughout and is bright and shiny with only a few spots of mild oxidation. The barrel, frame and buttplate have toned to a gray-brown patina overall. The barrel still retains remnants of original bluing. The breechblock, hammer and lock plate retain about 70% of oil quenched case-hardening with some scattered fine oxidation. The rifle retains standard military markings with an A on the top of the barrel. The rear barrel band is missing, but replacements for these are available. The swivels and cleaning rod are present. The action appears to function well mechanically.
